Letter regarding Abraham Lincoln September 3, 1935; letter of transmittal: March 13, 1947;

Cynthia (Dychus) Richmond lived in Springfield, Illinois in early childhood, near Abraham Lincoln's home. In 1935, living in Kansas City, Missouri, she wrote to local coin and antiques dealer Hart D. Mayer, describing the Abraham Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin campaign medallion that she wore as a child and Lincoln's comments on it when she visited him at the Illinois Statehouse. Included with her letter is a facsimile reproduction of a photograph of Lincoln--the inscribed original dated August 9, 1854.

Richmond was born on September 25, 1849 in Springfield, Illinois to Benjamin Franklin and Rosanna (Smick) Dychus, whose home was located about a block from the residence of Abraham Lincoln.
